Our 'back room' team are also highly
experienced and able to deal with most
day to day enquiries that you may have.
If you find yourself in the police
station either under arrest or for
pre-arranged interview under caution it
is very important that you obtain Legal
advice from a qualified person. This
advice is free and you must insist on
your rights to have a solicitor of
choice present. Tell the custody
sergeant that you want McCarthy & Booty
to be informed immediately. We are
local and can be at the station mostly
within 15-30 minutes to advise and aid
you through what can be a very daunting
process.
Legal Aid in Criminal work is undergoing
a massive change at present. Means
testing in the Magistrates court was
brought in in October 2006 and this
reduced eligibility for our clients for
Legal Aid for many offences. If we are
able to secure Legal Aid (or to be more
accurate "public funding") for you we
will, if not we have a number of payment
options available to suit you from fixed
fees to instalment plans and we hope to
offer credit card facilities shortly.
Having Legal Aid in the Crown court,
which is still non-means tested,
together a solicitor and/or barrister is
important and we have access to a wide
range of highly experiences barristers
to assist you. This combined with our
experience and support staff will ensure
the best possible result for you.
If your case needs to we are able to
take the case through the courts of
Appeal and other courts to ensure that
Justice is seen to be done.
There is a lot of talk at present of
solicitors pulling out of Legal Aid and
closing their doors to publicly funded
work. We at McCarthy & Booty have
embraced the challenge and are
expanding, putting staff and systems in
place to ensure our future of the firm
so that we can continue to meet the
needs of our clients well into the
future. You can rest assured that
McCarthy & Booty will remain to see your
case from start to finish and that our
service to you will not be affected by
the changes imposed on us. |
