Paul entered a career in Law after moving through various management roles. He qualified in 1999, became a duty solicitor in 2000 and a higher rights advocate in August 2005.

He initially practiced in both criminal and family Law giving up family work in 2005 to concentrate on ever growing demand for services within his criminal practice. He practiced in Tyneside until 2004 when he relocated to Bury St Edmunds joining Partridge and Wilson.
